Swim Levels

Swim Classes for Each Age and Ability Level

As your swimmer progresses, our lessons have a class that will continue to push the student. An equal emphasis is placed on technique as well as endurance. One week prior to registration for the upcoming session your instructor will give out a progress report recommended the next sessions placement. Below are an outline of the skills covered for each level. For initial placement to classes please contact us for a 5 minute swim evalation.

Parent with Child Classes

Age range: 6 months - 3 years

Ratio: 1:10 instructor to child

Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

The main goal of parent child classes is to teach water comfort and water safety. The parent will be in the water with the child practicing skills through song and games. Goals include back floating, basic forward movement, confidence in jumping then returning to the wall, and learning how to be safe by the pool.

Level 1: Tortoises

Age range: 2.5 - 4 years
Ratio: 1:10 instructor to child
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

Leap frog is the perfect class for children who are hesitate to separate from their parent. The first week will be a parent child class allowing the child time to get used to the new environment of the pool with the familiarity of the parent. Week 2 we begin to have the child separate from the parent to the instructor. Week 3-6 we will begin to have the parent leave the pool, then leave the pool deck so that the child is ready for their independent class without the parent.

Pre-School Parrotfish

Age range: 3 - 4 years
Ratio: 1:3 instructor to child
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

The goal of preschool aquatics is to allow for water comfort and the beginning steps of independent swimming. Children will learn to float, kick and move their arms in the water. Class will also cover water safety around the pool or ocean.

Level 2: Clownfishes

Age range: 5 - 10 years old
Ratio: 1:5 instructor to child
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

The clownfishes can move and grove in the water just like nemo, but like nemo, need more practice and time to grow. These swimmers are learning the importance of side breathing for freestyle. The arms are introduced for the backstroke and the breaststroke. The students will learn the elementary backstroke. Strokes covered: Freestyle, backstroke, elementary Backstroke

Level 1: Tortoises

Age range: 5 - 10 years
Ratio: 1:4 instructor to child
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

Slow and steady wins this race! In level 1 we work on the foundation of swimming, breathing through the freestyle stroke. To graduate each student needs to be able to swim independently on their front and back for 10 yards. Strokes learned: Basic front movement, back sculling

Level 3: Goldfish

Age range: 6 - 10 years
Ratio: 1:3 instructor to child
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

Level 4: Dolphins

Age range: 6 - 10 years
Ratio: 1:6 instructor to child
Time frame: 45 minutes, 10 weeks

Dolphins are able to swim freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke at the time they enter the class. Level 3 will be learning the dolphin kick and full butterfly stroke. All strokes will be practiced with endurance training and getting the swimmer ready for a team environment.

Pre-competitive: Sharks

Age range: 8 - 14 years
Ratio: 1:10 instructor to child
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

Pre-comp is a class for those who are looking to try out for a swim team. This class will fine tune stroke mechanics, work on endurance, starting dives, flip turns and other elements specific to swim team. To begin this class you must try out and be accepted. The swimmer will have a full understanding of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

Masters Swim:

Age range: 18 - 98 years
Ratio: 8 swimmers per lane.
Time frame: 30 minutes, 10 week session

Masters swim is our adult swim team program with a coach on deck for all workout times. Lanes will be separated based on speed and competing age range. This program is meant for adults who enjoy intense workouts with other swimmers as motivation.
